Choose the right smartphone for you

If you've been wondering about whether to buy the blackberry, the iPhone or the samsung galaxy, then this article might soothe your pains. Although true that choosing a right smartphone can be daunting at first, if you know what you're looking for, it will be the easiest thing in your life. But that's the trick - "What am I looking for? Gosh!" You'll  know that by the time you've finished reading this article.

So, the things you need to consider may be a million - ranging from the Cost, apps, camera resolution, the user friendly aspect of the Operating System and much more. Let's start with the easiest - What will I buy the smartphone for? In other words, what will be the main purpose of my smartphone after I buy it? Let's answer the question now.

Reason for buying the Smartphone

There can be many aspects with high priorities for you when for buying a smartphone -
  • Compatibility with other gadgets like PCs and Macs
  • Style, Shape and Colour
  • A decent Camera
  • Physical or touch screen keyboard
  • Cost
Note your priorities in order of highest priorities first. Lets tackle each of the above components one by one.

1. Inter-Compatibilty with other gadgets

Before buying any smartphone, make sure it is compatible with your most used laptop or any other equipment. For example, make sure that the phone is compatible with your iMac or your Macbook Pro, before you buy it and begin to moan about your ill thought decision.

Personally for me, inter-compatibility also includes the fact that my smartphone should have applications that are necessary to open and read any files that I usually work with, on the Computers. For example, a very basic thing is a pdf reader, you might even want a word document type reader application. So make sure that the smartphone you will buy includes these important applications which are essential to your lifestyle.

2. Style, Shape and Colour

Personally, it doesn't make much of a difference to me whether the smartphone has rounded edges or has sharp cut edges, as long as it fits in my pocket smoothly, :) . However, I do know people for whom it is one of the major priorities. If you're confused about colours of the smartphone , here's something that might actually help - What Colour are You?

3. Camera

What is important when choosing the camera megapixels for your smartphone, is to realise that it is not just the camera spec count that matters but also the hardware and the software of the mobile, needed to process the images. So, if you have a great pixel count for your camera but barely any processor speed, too bad, the camera's full capability might not be fully utilised.

Click here for a more comprehensive outline of the camera pixel count of a smartphone.

So, choose carefully, and never go beyond your means, if you're not needing a 41 megapixel count for the camera (Nokia PureView!) , then don't bother much about it. If you hardly use the camera, same thing as well. But if you do like to buy camera with a professional touch, think well about the requirements that you have as well as those of the camera specs. But, remember not to forget about the hardware and software specs as well.

 4. Keyboard and Cost

In this category we have 2 types of keyboards -
physical button to button and the smooth touch screen. Some people prefer the button type because there is little chance of the smartphone, mistaking your swipe gesture to be a press(sometimes, not always) but usually people do seem to prefer touch screen keyboards because of their ease of use.

For most people, Blackberry is a bye, not just because of the seemingly protruding keyboard, which to me looks quite awesome by the way, but also because of the very high cost. Do a Google search and find out for yourself. I might be able to almost 2 tablets by selling a blackberry actually! So, cost does play a major role, unless you are . . . maybe . . .  James Bond!(I don't know, why I thought of that, anyway)

Summary of smartphone requirements

So, all that this boils down to is what your needs are as per your day to day need for the use of the smartphone as well as the amount of your money you are ready to sacrifice. Remember to look for applications you need, like pdf viewers, do look for specific compatibility requirements of your smartphone with other products like laptops and computers.

So, have a good time shopping your smartphone and do choose wisely by taking these above points into consideration.

Buy Popular CPU Fans and Coolings

If you read the earlier product review on the overclocking guide or the article on the 5 dangers of overclocking you would know, how big a deal heating and cooling is with respect to the CPU. So, today, I have compiled some of the most popular amazon heating and cooling products for your CPU. The links will include product description and so on.

Buy Popular Case Fans

Some of them being quite cheap, under $40 or even $10, is quite a bargain but some are a bit expensive but worth the money if you're worrying about your heating CPU. I've only chosen the case fans below $40 here:
  1. Cooler Master SickleFlow 120mm Blue LED Computer Case Fan (R4-L2R-20AC-GP)
  2. Noctua NF-F12 PWM Cooling Fan
  3. Sabrent USB 2.0/ESATA TO 3.5 Inch IDE or SATA/SATA II Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure Case with Cooling Fan (EC-UEIS7)
  4. Rosewill RX-358 V2 BLK 3.5-Inch SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure with Internal 80mm Fan, Black

Buy Popular Heatsinks

If you read the article on overclocking, I mentioned that you might want to go for bulky heatsinks for the CPU if you're very concerned about your CPU. Most of them are costlier than the case fans but quite effective, I suppose:
  1. Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heat Pipes
  2. Noctua Ultra Silent CPU Cooler Cooling NH-U9B SE2
  3.

You would've noticed that Noctua seems to be repeating itself a bit, does it seem like a popolar ans reliable product to you? Share your thoughts below and if you would like to test these products out, surely do try them and let us know by commenting below.
